The stained-glass windows at the Church of the Most Holy Name serve as reminders to the people of God who live in faith, believing in Jesus.
In February 1982 a group of parishioners known as the "Cut-ups" began the difficult and painstaking craftsmanship of creating these windows. Under the direction of Carolyn Alletzhauser, a gifted artist working in stained glass, the windows were completed in 1986 and dedicated in May of that year.

The windows have one theme throughout: JESUS. This Holy Name is described in scriptures as "the name that is above every other name" (Philippians 2:9).

On Palm Sunday, Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem and was hailed as a king. The only crown he wore was the crown of thorns. One day the entire world will recognize his domination, as we pray in the Lord's Prayer, "thy kingdom come...on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 21:9; Matthew 6:10) /photoalbums/stained-glass-windows/IMG_0173.JPG _parent

The Epiphany star guided the Magi and represents the universal manifestation of Jesus to all nations. The Jewish Menorah commemorates the Jewish Feast of Lights, Hanukkah, while the Easter candle represents our baptism when we receive the light of faith (Matthew 2:2, 9; John 8:12) /photoalbums/stained-glass-windows/IMG_0175.JPG _parent

The multiplication of the loaves and fishes comes immediately before Jesus' discourse on the bread of life and refers to the Eucharist. The grapes and wheat transformed become the Body and Blood of Jesus (Matthew 14:13-21; John 6:1-15, 22-66) /photoalbums/stained-glass-windows/IMG_0177.JPG _parent

The scene at Bethlehem reminds us of the Incarnation, the Word made flesh. The lamp recalls the words of the psalmist, "Your word shall be a lamp to my feet." The bible is the word of God used in the first part of the Mass, the Liturgy of the Word (John 1:14; Psalm 119:105) /photoalbums/stained-glass-windows/IMG_0178.JPG _parent

The biblical images of a shepherd's staff and the oasis in the desert recall Psalm 23, "beside restful waters he leads me, he refreshes my soul." The shield is that of Pope John Paul II, our earthly shepherd (Psalm 23:2-3). /photoalbums/stained-glass-windows/IMG_0184.JPG _parent

The ark is an ancient symbol for baptism. Jesus told the woman at the well that he would be for her "living water." At his baptism, the spirit descended upon Jesus, as we believe for all the baptized, represented by the baptismal font with descending dove (John 4:14; Matthew 4:16). /photoalbums/stained-glass-windows/IMG_0185.JPG _parent

In the music area, the biblical instruments of trumpet, harp, and bell remind us that the Psalms are songs, and David is considered their author. The promised redeemer would be born of the lineage of David. As Jesus entered triumphantly into Jerusalem, the crowds chanted, "Hosanna to the Son of David" (Psalm 150:4-6; Matthew 21:9). /photoalbums/stained-glass-windows/IMG_0194.JPG _parent
