In Memoriam: The Most Rev. David R. Choby, 11th Bishop of Nashville

The Most Rev. David R. Choby, 11th Bishop of Nashville, passed away on Saturday, June 3 at 10:00pm due to complications following a fall at his home back in February of this year. Holy Name Catholic Church was very near to his heart and we are grateful for his years of service to our parish family and to all of our brothers and sisters here in the Diocese of Nashville. We extend our prayers and condolences to his family, the staff of the Catholic Pastoral Center, and all who knew and loved our dear bishop. On this page we will be adding photos from through the years and from his visits to Holy Name. Eventually a permanent album will be created to honor his memory. For information on funeral arrangements, memorial donations and more please see the links below. There is also a beautiful video which the diocese has produced if you would like to take a walk through his life. There is no doubt that Bishop Choby loved being a priest and that he was truly committed to his priests, deacons and seminarians also. "May Bishop Choby's soul and all souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."
